Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to participate at a symposium entitled "New Roles for Old Molecules: Enzymes in Personalized Medicine", which will take place on the beautiful Greek Island of Crete, from May 2-4, 2010.
This meeting is sponsored by the International Society for Enzymology, an Organization which promotes basic and clinical aspects of enzymes, especially as they apply to translational research. In this symposium, we will focus on the application of enzymes in personalized medicine. The symposium will include a state-of-the-art Keynote lecture, delivered by Dr. Richard Schilsky, President, American Society of Clinical Oncology, University of Chicago, lectures by prominent scientists in the field, as well as presentations selected from proffered abstracts. The meeting will also feature poster presentations and opportunities for wide discussions with an interactive panel from industry, government and academia.
Our main objective is to organize a symposium which will bring together basic, clinical and translational aspects of enzymes, especially as they apply to personalized medicine. Specific symposia will cover enzyme pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenomics and the role and applications of enzymes in cancer, cardiovascular, infectious and neurodegenerative diseases. There is no question that enzymes will continue to be primary targets for development of novel diagnostics and therapeutics, especially in the area of personalized medicine.
We selected the beautiful and historically exciting Island of Crete for the symposium. This wonderful venue is suitable not only for high-level scientific discussions but also for relaxation and exploration of its history. We are looking forward to welcoming you, your spouses and your colleagues in Crete on May 2-4, 2010.
Yours sincerely,
Eleftherios P. Diamandis - President, International Society for Enzymology (ISE)
Daniel W. Chan - Vice-President, ISE and Chair of the Symposium
Litsa Talieri - Chair of the Local Organizing Committee
